#3 Captain Shum v #2 Universe 7 | Full Game Highlights | April 7 2024 | D1 (All-Star) Season 1
No. 2 Universe 7 against no 3 Captain Shum. And this was a doozy.

Universe 7 comes into the game undefeated and feeling pretty good about themselves, having won all their games by an average of 10 points.

And Captain Shum is feeling pretty good too. Especially after their comeback win from 22 points down against Kent Elite just a week ago. In speaking with the players, I get the feeling that Captain Shum feels like they are the best team in the league at this point.

GM and top 4 player in the league, Hanley Shum made an early case for GM of the Year with his acquisition of PF Jeremiah Hobbs. Since joining the team, Captain Shum hasn't lost and Hobbs has risen to be the number 1 player in the league averaging 25.5 ppg, 16 rebounds and a staggering 3 blocks per game. [dominant]

Captain Shum comes out sluggish again. [Imma start calling them Bubble Lou Will]

Universe 7 takes the early 9-2 lead off the rebound and put-back by 12th ranked Curtis Brisbane. [he just finds ways to get buckets]

It took a while to get going but Captain Shum held a near double digit lead much of the first half.

Trey burch forces a Captain Shum timeout with the push and flush here. [no yelling, these boys are way too tired]

Only 5 players for Universe 7... and only 5 players for Captain Shum, Universe 7 missed their first 11 3-point attempts... until Trey Burch nails this one from the top of the key.

A couple turnovers by Captain Shum, and this pullup by Jamare Davis [soft touch around the basket] and just like that its a 2 point game

Universe is down 5 when Burch tries to get his team going with this drive down the lane.

Newcomers Burch and Forest Grant were a combined 6 for 34 up to this point but when the game is on the line you go to your dawgs.

Burch gets the bucket here to cut it to a 1 point game late. [middle of land clip]

Universe is up 1 when Ricky Chen from threeeeee!!! [20:45 - 20:55] Big time shot from Ricky and we head into OT.

Universe 7 was 2 for 21 from behind the arc heading into over and NNOOOOOOOhh Great shot!

Ok but naturally when shooting 3 for 22 you want to go inside ... and then back outside. splash!

Universe 7 shot 100% on 3's in the OT period after shooting an abysmal 9% in regulation. [chuckle] that's crazy

Universe 7 goes on to win by a final score of 74 to 70.
